My first trip to Kyoto part 2.
From Japan on March 10, 2009Kinkakuji was very very gold. Too gold for me because I really like simple and clean beauty. Too many ornaments and richness is too much for me. But Golden pavilon was beautifully located near big pond with islands covered by artistically cutted pine trees. Lots of people watched the view, symbol of Japan same as Mount Fuji. Cute.
It was pretty late and Kinkakuji looked like burning in sunset light. We had to run to see Ginkakuji before park gates will be closed. Ginkakuji was much more in my type. It is black and white elegant pavilon, modestly covered by pines and nicely cut bushes. I neighbourhood we found lavatory building which looked like small tea house. It is funny but nice that toilets in Japan, especially these located near temples and other famous buildings, have similar architecture and looks like smaller copy of old building, but made from concreet. Good idea. It looks much better than ugly and smelly toilets near famous buildings in Europe. What is best- these toilets are for free! Real blessing for poor tourists.
There was bamboo forest near Ginkakuji, located of nice hill. We climbed on the top of hill to enjoy the overlook. It was so nice. Such a pity I could not stay longer there...
bad think is we missed Gion. It was too late and we had to take our train home. I have seen Gion many years later, actually last year...
